9 WAYS TO HAVE ME TIME

I want to encourage you to make, ‘Me Time’ an important part of your day and your life. What is ‘Me Time’ anyway? Me Time is taking time away from everyday activities for relaxation or enjoyment. Me time could be anything you enjoy doing (any positive thing that is). You may be a single mom, a stay at home mom, a career mom, a single woman with a busy life and career or a student. No matter who you are taking time for yourself is extremely important and beneficial. It’s not easy to find that elusive time, however, it’s not an impossible thing to achieve. Below are 9 ways to have ‘Me Time:’

 

1. Take a walk

2. Go for a swim 

3. Have a spa day

4. Spend time with someone fun

5. Relax with a book, a cup of tea or a cup of coffee.

6. Take a soothing bath

7. Dance

8. Try something new

9. Learn a new skill

 

THE BENEFITS OF ME TIME

The benefits of me time are numerous it can reduce the negative effects of psychological and physical stress. “Stressful events that range from common place daily hassles to chronic calamities can produce immune alterations that are consequential for health. Psychological stress can slow wound healing, diminish the strength of immune responses to vaccines, enhance susceptibility to infectious agents, and reactivate latent viruses (Glaser and Kiecolt-Glaser, 2005).” Source PMC US National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health.

 

If that’s not enough to convince you to make Me Time a priority. “When under stress, cells of the immune system are unable to respond to hormonal control, and consequently, produce levels of inflammation that promote disease. Because inflammation plays a role in many diseases such as cardiovascular, asthma and autoimmune disorders, this model suggests why stress impacts them as well.” These are research findings from a research team led by Carnegie Mellon University’s  Sheldon Cohen, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology.

 

THE CONCLUSION

There’re more ways to have Me Time besides these, 9 Ways To Have ‘Me Time.’ You can have, ‘Me Time’ any way you want to. You can choose to do whatever you like the key is to make sure that it’s relaxing and enjoyable so you’ll keep going back for more. Find creative ways such as; stealing away to the bathroom, finding a secret hiding place, making yourself unavailable at a set time. Those are just a few ideas I’m sure you could come up with even better and more creative ways on your own. TAKING THE FIRST STEP 

My encouragement to you:

— Daily: Carve out five to ten minutes to spend quality time alone.

— Weekly: Create no less than half an hour of quality time alone. 

— Work your way up to an hour a week after you have made daily and weekly ‘Me Time’ is a natural part of your life.

— Monthly: Choose an entire day where you spend it alone or with others doing something that’s; relaxing , fun or creative.
